Why Does a Webcam Model Have To Care About Time Zones?
If you are a webcam model or always wanted to work in this industry, you certainly know that the work schedule is flexible. In other words, you can choose your own slots, as long as they add up to 40 hours per week, as with any other normal job. This way, you can also take care of your personal life or other aspects such as family, friends or civic duties. However, there are a few elements which you should take into consideration when setting your schedule. Of course, the most important one refers to your members.
As a webcam model, your main task is to make sure members spend as much time as possible with you in the private chat. Since we are talking strictly about a non-adult modeling agency, you don’t have to undress or engage in any kind of sexual activity to do that. You only have to focus on your conversational skills, empathy and the ability to put yourself in the others’ shoes. Yet, you have to keep into mind one crucial thing: you rely, more or less, on your members’ routine and their time online.
Since most inland IPs are blocked, it means that, as a webcam model, you only have to deal with members from other countries. This involves a time difference which we will further address in this article. As you know, if each time zone was 1 hour apart, there would be 24 time zones in the world. However, since several of them are 30 or 45 minutes apart, the total number is much higher. Luckily, you are only interested in your members’ time zones, not all of them, but the difference between theirs and yours can be quite significant.
For example, if you live in Los Angeles, California, or Phoenix, Arizona, where two of the most popular and successful cam studios for webcam models in the US are located, your time zone will be GMT-7. If you live in Bogota, Colombia, your time zone will be GMT-5, so two hours ahead. When it comes to your members, most of them are from South Asian countries such as India or Pakistan, which lie on the GMT+5:30 and GMT+5 time zones, respectively.
Therefore, between the place where you carry out your activity as a webcam model and the place where your members are, there is a 10 to 12 hour difference. This means, for example, that when in India it’s 8 PM, in Los Angeles it’s around 8 AM and vice-versa. Taking into consideration that most members spend time online during the night, from 8 PM to 12 AM, you have to adjust your schedule and work from 8 AM to 12 PM in your country.
Of course, we gave you just an example and, anyway, you have to remember that you should work an average of 8 hours per day, as anybody else. Depending on where your most loyal members come from, you have to adjust your schedule accordingly, while taking care of your personal life as well. However, instead of a conclusion, we remind you how great it is to be a webcam model since you don’t have to respect a 9 to 5 schedule no matter what.
